Itinerary
Day 1: Check in to your hotel in Colle Val d’Elsa then enjoy a Tuscan Cooking Class in the hills.
Check in to your beautiful hotel, relax and settle in. In the evening enjoy your first cooking lesson where you will learn to make a full Tuscan meal. After creating all the dishes you will savour the fruits of your labour paired with a delicious glass (or 2) of wine.
Day 2: Olive oil mill. Volterra visit.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to a local olive farm in the Volterra countryside where you will visit the mill and learn all about this “liquid gold”. Lunch at the mill with an oil degustation before enjoying a guided tour of Volterra. In the evening, a wine tasting paired with local cheeses and cured meats near the town square.
Day 3: Wine tasting and lunch. San Gimignano visit. Panoramic dinner.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then make your way to a panoramic winery where you will learn the wine-making process before tasting five of their top wines. Transfer to San Gimignano where you are free to wander the town on your own for a couple of hours. Panoramic dinner overlooking the towers.
Day 4: Siena Walking Tour. Relaxing dinner.
Pack up and have breakfast before checking out. Transfer to Siena for a half-day walking tour with a local guide who will take you to visit the most important sites and taste the delicious local cuisine. Check-in to the hotel in Val d’Orcia before enjoying some free time in Pienza. Relaxing dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Montalcino winery. Thermal bath in Bagno Vignoni.
Breakfast at the hotel before making your way to Montalcino, home of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. Learn about the winemaking process at this small family-run vineyard before savouring not only their wines but home-made prosciutto amongst other delicacies. Relax in the thermal waters in Bagno Vignoni before enjoying dinner in the unique town square.
Day 6: Wine tasting and lunch in Montepulciano. Pecorino dairy visit.
After breakfast, make your way to Montepulciano, home to one of Italy’s other famous red wines, Vino Nobile. Marvel at the historic cellar during the tour, then delight your tastebuds at a local wine bar for lunch. Visit a working dairy farm, see the cheese-making process and taste the results.
Day 7: Market tour of Orvieto. Free afternoon in Assisi.
Check out of the hotel after breakfast, then we will make our way across the regional border to Umbria. A local guide will take you to discover Orvieto’s food markets and local cuisine. Free time in Orvieto before transferring to the hotel.
Day 8: Truffle Hunting in the Umbrian hills.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we make our way into the Umbrian hills to experience a day of truffle hunting with dogs as well as a wild gastronomic experience and delicious home-cooked meal.
Day 9: Wine tasting and lunch. Wandering the floral streets of Spello. Farewell dinner in Montefalco.
Breakfast at the hotel before making your way to a family-run oil and wine producer a stone’s throw from Assisi. This delightful family will show you around before talking you through their wines and preparing you a delicious aperitivo and lunch. Afternoon visit to nearby Spello before a farewell dinner in the hilltop town of Montefalco.
Day 10: Farewell and transfers.
Final breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Transfers to Perugia train station or airport.
