Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and check in to your hotel. Volterra Wine and Olive Oil Tasting.
Check in to your charming hotel in Colle Val d’Elsa before setting off on your first panoramic drive to Volterra. Explore the streets of this Etruscan town before enjoying a local olive oil and wine degustation in the heart of the old town.
Day 2: Panoramic lunch at a winery in San Gimignano.
Make your way to a panoramic winery overlooking the towers of San Gimignano. After a tour of the property, enjoy a delicious lunch before going for a stroll among the cobbled streets of this historic town and soak up the incredible view from the top of the fortress.
Day 3: Siena Food Tour.
Take a drive to Siena where you will be greeted by a local guide who will not only take you around this magnificent town sharing with you all of its history and traditions, but also take you to savour some of the best local cuisine.
Day 4: Wine tasting and lunch in Montalcino.
Pack up and have breakfast before checking out before making your way to Montalcino, home of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. Learn about the winemaking process at this small family-run vineyard before savouring not only their wines but home-made prosciutto amongst other delicacies. After lunch make your way to your hotel in Val D’Orcia. Take an evening stroll in the picturesque Bagno Vignoni.
Day 5: Cooking Class in Pienza.
Roll up your sleeves and learn to make some of Tuscany’s most delicious traditional dishes at one of the most panoramic locations not only in Tuscany but the entire of Italy.
Day 6: Wine tasting in Montepulciano.
After breakfast, make your way to Montepulciano, home to one of Italy’s other famous red wines, Vino Nobile. Marvel at the historic cellar during a wine tour, then delight your tastebuds with a tasting to finish off.
Day 7: Drive to Umbria. Panoramic picnic among the vines in Assisi.
Check out of your hotel and make your way across the regional border to Umbria. Stop off at a winery in Assisi for a tasting and a picnic among the vineyards with the most breathtaking view of Assisi’s skyline. Check in to your hotel.
Day 8: Truffle Hunting* in the Umbrian hills.
Drive into the Umbrian hills to experience a day of truffle hunting. You will wander through the woods with dogs that are specially trained to search for Umbria’s “black pearl”. After the hunt, relax and enjoy a truffle-based lunch.
Day 9: Wine tasting and lunch. Floral town of Spello
Have breakfast at the hotel before making your way to a family-run oil and wine producer a stone’s throw from Assisi. This delightful family will show you around before talking you through their wines and satisfying your tastebuds with aperitivo and lunch. After lunch, stop by nearby Spello to marvel at the flower-lined streets.
Day 10: Squeeze in one last Umbrian town before farewelling the area
Check out of the hotel and make the most of your remaining time by stopping off at one last town before bidding this beautiful land farewell.
