Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive and check in to your hotel in Colle Val d’Elsa. Olive oil tasting in Volterra.
After checking into your hotel, take your first panoramic drive to the charming Etruscan town of Volterra. Here, you will enjoy an olive oil tasting with “liquid gold” produced by a nearby family farm, followed by a degustation of local wines, meats and cheeses.
Day 2: Panoramic wine tasting and lunch in San Gimignano.
Make your way to San Gimignano for a winery tour and tasting before sitting down to a picturesque lunch overlooking the enchanting San Gimignano skyline. After lunch, head into the town for a wander around the cobbled streets and a breathtaking view from the Fortress.
Day 3: Siena Food Tour.
Drive to Siena, where an expert local guide will be waiting to take you around, sharing with you the history and local traditions as well as taking you to try some of the most delicious local delicacies.
Day 4: Wine tasting and lunch in Montalcino.
After checking out of your hotel, you will stop off a local winery in the famous Montalcino area. At this small family-run winery, you will have to opportunity to savour some of the areas most prestigious wines, paired with a home-made lunch boasting the best of local produce. After lunch, make your way to your charming hotel in Val D’Orcia for check-in.
Day 5: Truffle Hunting* and Cooking Class.
Today you will set out to hunt the “black pearl”, more commonly known as a truffle. See the truffle dogs in action, sniffing their way through the woods to uncover this prestigious delicacy. You will then return to the farmhouse with the truffles and enjoy a hands-on Italian cooking lesson.
Day 6: Wine tasting in Montepulciano.
Enjoy the panoramic drive to Montepulciano, home to one of Italy’s other famous red wines, Vino Nobile. Marvel at the historic cellar during a wine tour, then delight your tastebuds with a tasting to finish off.
Day 7: Enjoy the last of the Tuscan countryside.
Check out of your hotel and, if you have time, stop off at one of the other spectacular hilltop towns before farewelling the area.
